A Sip That Feels Like Home— Antahan Cafe

    Happy Monday everyone! Today, I want to feature a place that’s close to my heart — a place that feels like home — Antahan Cafe. I’m one of their regulars, so this review might be a little biased. Last Saturday, I decided to switch things up and visited their main branch at Tugatog, instead of my usual spot at Longos.

Unlike the second branch (Longos), the Tugatog branch doesn’t have an indoor area where you can lounge on a comfy sofa, enjoy the air conditioning, or hear the cheerful chatter of other customers (fondly called “Kapitbahays”). But that’s what makes it charming in its own way. At Tugatog, you get to feel the gentle touch of the afternoon breeze and the calm rhythm of the neighborhood. Customers usually drop by one at a time, often for take-out, so the space feels peaceful — a perfect spot for writing and reflection without distractions.

That afternoon, I ordered an Iced White Mocha and paired it with a Sugar Trend Premium Donut (Strawberry flavor). I’m not really allowed to consume caffeine, but curiosity won this time — I took a few sips, and it was worth it. The drink had just the right mix of creaminess and espresso kick, enough to keep me awake and alert all afternoon (though yes, I did end up palpitating later on). I’m no coffee critic, but I can say it was pretty good already.

Sugar Trend Premium Donut (Strawberry Flavor): ⭐⭐⭐⭐


Now, the highlight of the day was definitely the donut. Honestly, I think it’s too affordable for how good it is — as if the baker’s goal wasn’t to profit, but to prove a point about how indulgent pastries should taste. It’s filled generously with cream and strawberry, and everything comes together beautifully: the syrupy-sweet glaze, the viscous melted chocolate, the cold airy whipped cream, and the sweet-tart bite of real fresh strawberries. It’s a dessert symphony, and I can confidently say I made the right combination once again.

Just a quick tip: make sure your hands are clean or bring your own utensils when eating it — it can get a little messy, and the provided plastic utensils don’t quite do it justice. It’s also best served cold, so enjoy it fresh for that perfect texture and flavor.

Of course, nothing still beats my personal favorites — the Honey Flakes Frappe and Sugar Trend Premium Almond Donut. I can’t handle overly sweet treats regularly, so those two are my go-to comfort picks, offering the perfect balance of mild sweetness, creaminess, and texture I love in desserts.

Overall, I always enjoy my experience at Antahan Cafe, no matter which branch I visit. It’s a cozy, family-friendly spot with free internet connection, making it ideal for students, remote workers, and anyone who just wants to unwind with good food and better company. Whether you’re a café lover, a writer, or simply someone looking for a warm place to hang out with friends, this is the perfect place for you. Kudos to the very accommodating and genuinely beautiful people who make this café as special as it is.
